Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory (APL) was formally established by former Professor and Director Dr. Donald Lightner in 1989. Upon his retirement, Dr. Arun K. Dhar joined the laboratory as Director and P.I. of Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory.
We are located in Southern Arizona in the middle of the Sonoran Desert! Tucson, Arizona is surrounded by beautiful mountains and is located about 220 miles away from the ocean—making our lab the ideal location for shrimp disease diagnostics and research.
We are currently a USDA approved, ISO 17025:2017 and 17043:2010 accredited (testing and proficiency testing), and OIE reference laboratory—Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory, for the past 31 years, has been dedicated to providing quality diagnostic and research services for the growing shrimp industry worldwide.
